A 7-year-old pit bull and retriever mix is in need of a forever home just six weeks after saving his previous owner’s life.
“We are just really looking for a home for him. He really deserves it,” animal advocate Marti Little told ABC Action News. “It’s a shame things didn’t work out for him, but I think there’s somebody special out there for him, who deserves a special dog.”
The previous owner suffered a heart attack on the same day he brought Dose home from the Citrus County Animal Services in Inverness, FL.
The dog may have only been with the man for a short period of time, but he didn’t leave his side. With a handwritten letter, the man revealed that the pooch saved his life by licking his face until he woke up.
Unfortunately, the man isn’t able to care for Dose anymore leaving him in foster care until a new family adopts him.
According to the shelter’s Facebook page, “He loves to go for walks and is good on the leash. He is past the high energy days and is quit happy to just hang out with you. He is a great companion dog.”
