2Another dog has been removed from its family simply because it is a suspected pit bull.
This time, the police had to pry the dog out of the loving arms of a girl with autism.
Darla, a three-year-old dog, was living with her family in Lancashire England. When the police came for Darla, 7-year-old Maddison Armer locked herself in the bathroom with the pup. Once the dog was forcibly taken out of Maddison’s arm, she was taken to an undisclosed location to await the outcome of the investigation.
According to England’s Dangerous Dogs Act, any breed that resembles a pit bull (or Argentine mastiff or Japanese Tosa) can be seized and euthanized. Nearly 5,000 dogs in the last three years have been taken in England and Wales.
Jenny Armer, Maddison’s mother, said in a Facebook post that Darla has never nipped, bit, or even growled at anyone.
